Free crochet summer dress pattern

• Fingering/4-ply cotton: 700–900 g

Construction

This dress is worked from the lower skirt upward in the round.
The skirt uses a repeating lace shell motif. The waist is shaped with decreases.
The bodice is divided into front and back, then shoulder straps are worked.
A simple picot edging finishes the neckline and armholes.

Skirt Pattern

Foundation: Chain a multiple of 12 + join to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 3, dc in each chain around, join.
Round 2: *Ch 2, sk 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, ch 2, sk 2 sts, sc in next st; rep from *.
Round 3: Sl st to shell center, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in shell; sc in next sc; repeat.
Repeat Rounds 2–3 until skirt measures desired length, working waist decreases every 6th round by reducing one shell evenly around.

Waist

Work 6 rounds of dc with evenly spaced decreases to fit bust.

Bodice

Divide work into front and back.
Work each section flat in lace pattern, decreasing at armholes every other row.
Shape neckline over final rows.
Join shoulders.
