The Mercerie ☀️
@themercerie is a UK-based independent yarn shop and crochet community that
has become a true home for makers. More than just a store, The Mercerie is
known for bringing people together through yarn, workshops, and massive
crochet-along projects.
About The Mercerie:
A cozy, colorful yarn shop run by a passionate team who believe that crochet
is about community as much as it is about craft. You’ll recognize them by
their navy aprons and their love for bold color. They host events, teach
classes, and celebrate handmade art at yarn shows across the UK.
About the work in these photos:
These are handmade crochet blankets made by The Mercerie community, often
inspired by `Sophie’s Universe` by Dedri Uys.
Each blanket is made of hundreds of individual motifs - flowers, stars,
mandalas, and hexagons - joined together stitch by stitch.
What makes them special:
1. Color - From soft blues and pastels to fiery reds, oranges, and cosmic
purples. No two blankets are ever the same.
2. Detail - Months of work go into each one. Every round, every petal, every
star is crocheted with care.
3. Community - Many of these were made during CALs with The Mercerie. The
last photos show the team and customers proudly displaying their finished
pieces at shows.
4. Art you can live with - These aren’t just blankets. They’re heirlooms.
They turn a bed into a canvas and a home into a gallery.
The Mercerie proves that yarn + people + time = magic.
